Kay & Alec - Mabie House Hotel Wedding, Scotland

Kay & Alec’s original wedding was planned for 2020, but what it lacked in Covid-consequent punctuality, it more than made up for in style! Theirs was, in fact, the first wedding I shot after lockdown had officially lifted in the UK, and thankfully the only thing infectious this time round was the energy! (Though, not to be forgotten entirely, there was one definite “Tell me you got married during Covid times without telling me you got married during Covid” moment when the celebrant dispensed hand sanitiser to the bride and groom before they could sign their marriage license.)

The couple were married on the lush grounds of the Mabie House Hotel, a gorgeous 17th century country house in the countryside of Dumfries. When Alec first reached out to me, he told me “the day will be less a wedding and more a feast and a ceilidh” which definitely proved true that evening with catering provided by the Flavour Bomb Kitchen, and a full night of Scottish dancing (with one particularly persuasive guest dragging me away from my duties and onto the dance floor!).

I had such a blast documenting this day, and received the sweetest message from Kay afterwards saying, “Cannot thank you enough for capturing so many perfect, beautiful photos. There were so many smiles when looking through them (I may also have cried a little through happiness). All the family/guests have also loved them. Also, everyone ADORED you!!!! It was such a pleasure to have you there for the day, and you honestly helped me personally so much stay calm on the run up to the ceremony. You really were amazing.” Some of the best times - and testimonials - I’ve had in ages, and truly the best way to kick off my post-lockdown wedding season!
